On November 28th, a Copper City, Florida man was electrocuted while adjusting his Holiday lights, the full article which can be found on line, but the fact is, his life could have been spared if the outlets serving the lights were GFI protected. National building standards have required GFI protection for exterior outlets since 1973, and the codes have been continually updated since then to include all "damp or wet" area in and around the home. GFI outlets aren't there for decoration, if you are using the outlet - make sure the test the outlet for a safety check. |
