PLUMBING LINES
August 08, 2005

Introduction:
With all the residential building under construction, we've been doing A LOT of Construction Final Inspections lately. Some folks don't feel the need to have a private inspection when buying a newly built home, but if you could see what we see - you would insist on an inspection, even more than on a re-sale purchase. One area in which we see considerable deficiencies is with the plumbing system...

Question:
True or False? The Florida Building Code requires hot water lines be installed to the left side of the plumbing fixture.
Answer:
True - There is a Code for just about everything, and Florida Building Code - Plumbing 607.4, very explicitly states "The hot water supply to any fixture requiring hot water shall be installed on the left side of the fixture." It doesn't get much clearer than that.
